He was relaxed, surprisingly funny, and had Garry Shandling on as a guest. They are close friends, so Dave might have been extra calm because of that. He did very well though, IMO.

Not surprisingly he had Shandling on doing his tired old shtick. Slightly more surprising his deadpan demeanor seemed an attempt to be imitative of Shandling. Put those two facts together and the show had all the momentum of paint drying.

I can totally agree with that...I watched part of the show last night because I use to watch The X-files and I had seen DD on GS show with the whole gay thing...But you are right, it is a tired routine...BORING!! DD has almost 0 personality, perhaps it was just nerves? I don't know...He also kept touching GS and then the kid that came out...DD was just uncomfortable to watch.
