HAHAHAAHA! Only if the world knew what Regan did.... No matter who is in power, there will always be something that someone dosen't like. The only way you can protect yourself is to get off the grid...fully.

It's not bad, and certainly not irrelevant. This domestic spying program is far more widespread than they are admitting and it isn't just american citizens who are 'suspected terrorists' that they are spying on. They're using the 'war on terror' as a cover to use the NSA as a tool to gather information on political opponents and people who have been critical of the administration or who they suspect of disloyalty. As of last May they were spying on Colin Powell, Joe Biden and Richard Armitage, among many others who must have been deemed 'politically unreliable' by the Bush administration. Anyway, here's what they were doing as of last May, that we know about. This story has that 'tip of the iceberg' feel to it. An administration willing to spy on its own people (Powell and Armitage) sounds paranoid enough to spy on damn near anybody.

The media spotlight on the Patriot act certainly raises awareness.
So what effect does public awareness of government monitoring capability have?
Do the bad guys seek non electronic secure channels?
Are criminals like children that behave better when they know they are being watched?
