So who is the Carver?

It makes sense that Quentin could be the Carver, but that's too obvious.

I've thought from the beginning that it was Bobolit. He went off the deep end and nearly cut off Christian's face because he was too beautiful. He's had feelings of inadequacy for a very long time. Also, he's got a good reason to have a vendetta against Kimber (who the Carver has hostage) since she chose Christian over him.

Sean is The Carver.

Sean is the only victim of The Carver who was not raped. His slashing missed major facial nerves, damage that had made the other attacks hard to repair.

It's established that Sean frequently hallucinates. Last season he argued with a dead woman's head during his recertification. This year, his Kimber 'real doll' came to life as he explored its three orifices. In the Finale, he engaged in fantasy involving knives, guns and his drug lord nemesis Eduardo Escobar.

Was he also hallucinating in the Finale when we 'saw' him get into bed, handgun at the ready, awaiting The Carver?

We've seen split, multiple personalities on the show before. Sean even asked one patient's child split-personality 'Sassy' how to develop his *own* split personality, and hide beneath it!

Did you notice that Sean persuaded the police, who had been sitting vigil inside his home, to wire up cameras and vacate the premises

It can't be Kimber, unless she has a partner in crime, because the episode a few weeks ago showed The Carver forcing her to write the fake goodbye note to Christian.

It could be Julia's mum. She's a nasty piece of work...

Are there 2 carvers/killers involved? The motivation is the 'Practice'. I don't think it is anything to do with Beauty or compassion It is money and sustenance of the practice - for whose benefit, it is not clear yet.

The killing of one disturbed patient showed that either Christian, Sean or Liz present there could have taken vengeance and silenced that patient to stop a bad publicity, (one of them is the carver as the anaesthesia was administered as in anger), and has taken advantage of the carver publicity. Or, Quentin could've done this one killing to help his benefactors to continue practicing with them.

Either Quentin or Rhona Mitra (whose origins are not specific at all, and seems like a stalker of Christian) are possibly transgenders.

Or, are Christian/Sean together in this?!!!!

If the carver is Sean or Christian how would the show carry on? Would they not get caught and keep carving?

Nope. I just can't buy that.

I'll bet it's Sean's little girl. She's hardly ever on the show and Matt is far too normal and much too saintly of a child to ever break the law.

I think it's someone who is more of a peripheral character....like Julia's mother, or maybe Liz, Quentin, or even Jude if he's still alive and in Miami, a former patient, etc. I don't think it's Sean and if it were Christian, I think that would totally wreck the show. If it's Matt, I'm going to be seriously ticked. He's my favorite one on the whole show. I don't admire the character, but I think the actor who portrays Matt is very genuine.

bobolit od'd in an earlier ep.

Throughout this entire season I thought it was Quinten until I saw the previews for the season finale where quinten gets attacked by the carver. Now I'm positive it's Gina although I like that person's theory (above) that it's Merril - the plastic surgeon who was dating Kimber a few seasons ago.
