I didn't think her family was *that* loaded (after all, she IS from Happy Valley, Utah)....but she made a fortune in infomercials with some silly hair thing.

Yeah her family is loaded. Her Dad was an A&R guy for a bunch of musical acts. She grew up with stars all around her. I'm sure she didn't need money from Larry - which makes their union exceptionally bizarre. Although they did meet when he was coming out of Tiffany's (or one of those types of rich jewelry stores) and he was walking in. That's literally how they met - so maybe money was some issue for her. Maybe Larry is a reminder of her powerful Dad.

Shawn King has been a part of the entertainment world all her life, having been “born into the business.” The daughter of a major record company executive and a top Hollywood studio singer, as well as being the niece of one of the members of the original Lettermen hit vocal group, it was not unusual for Shawn to run through the house as a little girl and see Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, go on a bike ride with Ann Murray, or play catch in the backyard with any number of major recording artists. Born and raised in Southern California until she enrolled at Brigham Young University, Shawn began performing at the age of three as a child studio vocalist, eventually graduating to singing back-up vocals for motion pictures, television and records.

In the 1980s, Shawn frequently guest starred on several popular prime-time television shows and co-hosted “The Spectacular World of Guinness Records” with David Frost. From 1990-1996 Shawn hosted USA Cable Network’s weekly entertainment news show, “Hollywood Insider.” Her warmth and unpretentious manner always put her guests at ease, drawing from them a relaxed insight.

After marrying CNN’s Larry King in 1997, Shawn decided to take a hiatus from the business to start a family. Shawn is the proud mother of three wonderful sons: Danny Southwick from a prior marriage, and Chance and Cannon King with proud Papa Larry. Due to their busy and productive lives, Shawn and Larry live between Los Angeles, Washington DC and Provo, Utah with their two youngest children. Shawn says that being a mother is the most fulfilling and rewarding role she could ever have, living by the motto that “no success in the world can ever compensate for failure in the home.”

Shawn’s many activities include her great passion as chairperson of The Larry King Cardiac Foundation as well as her current involvement with various television projects. Now, as her children are a little older, Shawn has returned to show business. In 2002 she was invited to sing on a commemorative CD for the Olympic Winter Games and she recently made her Las Vegas debut in an exciting act with Don Rickles.

Returning to her musical roots, Shawn has just completed an album entitled “In My Own Backyard” to be released on Lofton Creek Records, joining President Mike Borchetta

That's such a lie. Marie Osmond introduced them. She has talked about it, Larry has interviewed Marie and mentioned it.

I'm not surprised Shawn perpetuates this fiction, though. It sounds so Hollywood to such an obvious D lister.

They told the story about a week ago on Jimmy Gimmel. Both Larry and her told it. Maybe Marie was with Shawn and that's what got them to stop and talk? They didn't mention Marie being there though.

Weird! To me meeting in front of Tiffany's isn't romantic in the least - so I don't know why she'd lie about it. To me, the most romantic Hollywood-type meeting happened with Bernadette Peters and her husband.
