serving sara: hideous turtleneck

no plans to see 'serving sara'' but after viewing the commercial a half dozen times, i am curious about the context of her outfit: designer jeans, indifferent hair and hideous, tight, baby blue turtleneck w/ delicate gold chain and pendant, ca. 1980... an ugly chic ensemble more likely to be sported by the heroic miss sevigny...

i'm not putting down miss hurley as a person! i don't know her. i'm not trying to be be nasty or negative, i swear. i just think her outfit is improbable and in questionable taste, which can be fun sometimes.

At the time of filming wasn't it around the time of her early pregnancy? Maybe the costume designers and directors knew about it but the rest of the world didnt. A turtleneck on a skinny girl would hide the 2-4 month pregnancy buldge.

I've seen the outfit you described, and it *is* icky. The comparison to Chloe Sevigny was an inspired touch, though.

You obviously don't like them but turtlenecks are 'classic' wear that have been around far before 1980. They still sell them in most clothing stores.
