I try to avoid driving at night. All those bright blue and white super nova headlights burn a hole in my brain pan. I drive with my mirrors angled down, but that doesn't prevent the on-coming traffic or the determined SUV'ers who like to get close to shine them in your rear window. Sure, maybe you look cool or can see for miles, but is blinding oncoming traffic such a great safety idea?

Wouldn't someone using bellsouth.net see more pickup trucks than 'evil SUVs'?

I agree! Those headlights are not only blinding, but they produce the most annoying glare that other headlights don't seem to cause. Some people need SUVs for their work or because they have to travel over difficult terrain throughout much of the year. Those are the only ones who should be driving gas-guzzlers. Most suburban housewives do NOT need them, and if they do need them, they should be forced to take SUV-driving lessons before being allowed on the road. To most suburban lemmings, SUVs are yet another status symbol to bolster their fragile egos, like the Volvo station wagons of the 1980s.

Not sure what you're implying. I see many more SUVs than pickups, but I've never actually done any tabulations.

Well, I wasn't really ranting about SUVs, they just happen to have the height to put their headlights in my rear window. I'm seeing these blue and white headlights on all types of vehicles. Some may be after market, but I hope that they are not becoming an industry standard. When I go to buy a new car, their presence would be a deal breaker. It could be that some users are blissfully ignorant of the intensity of their headlights.

But I've never seen them on an SUV. Only Audis for some reason.
The SUV argument? I dunno. I live in Canada. We get a lot of snow. I mean A LOT. We ski. I love four wheel drive. Personally, I hate people who drive lightweight cars without snow tires. They keep plowing into things or getting stuck. I probably drive my car less than they do. My SUV is six years old and only has 70k on it. I tend to walk everywhere

Really? Down south where there's no snow? In Houston, all I saw were pickup trucks....and so on, into Louisiana. Obviously, I've not been to your area.
I have one myself, but I live on a snowy mountainside (and balance it with the world's worst vehicle: a Prius).

On balance, I'd say it's maybe half and half. But, to be honest, I consider the XXL trucks to be SUVs. But, the headlight seem to be spread over all vehicles. My rant is with the high intensity headlights. I'm not brave enough to initiate a pro or con SUV argument. That's scary territory.
