Non-Christians Upset with 'The Chronicles of Narniaâ' By WENN|Tuesday, December 13, 2005

Non-religious groups in America are urging atheist parents to boycott hit new movie The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe after attacking the film as Christian propaganda.

Groups led by the Pierce County Democrats have launched Internet campaigns blasting the film for its religious undertones.

Based on the novel by C.S. Lewis, the film is full of strong Christian themes such as the symbolic Christ character portrayed by the heroic lion Aslan (Liam Neeson), according to the protestors.

A spokesman for the Pierce County Democrats says, 'The film is little more than a Christian recruiting film and it undermines all other beliefs as secondary.'

The protestors themselves have been attacked for turning a family film into an unnecessary controversy.

Pro-Narnia fans insist the film is a strong entertainment piece that emphasizes love, family, and the notion that all should live in harmony.

This is kind of after the fact as this issue has always been associated with the storyline. Did they just read the book or see the movie? Duh.

This is the dumbest thing ever. I'm an atheist and I love the Narnia books. I re-read them every year.

It does? I must have missed the parts where they denigrated Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, etc. etc. etc.
