The average student graduates with an undergraduate debt of around $15,000 if there is *no* in-kind aid. Grad school-even more. My friend has a Masters and a PhD and estimates she would have had _at least_ $50K in debt if it were not for her state and local Miss America programs providing scholarships.

I heard a couple of radio commercials this week saying that Miss America would ALSO be aired on the PAX cable network. I missed it on both networks. Perhaps PAX will pick it up next year?

How much did she spend on pageant gowns, pageant coaches, trainers, make-up, hotels, transportation to pageants, etc.? How much money could she have earned if she'd devoted time to a part-time job instead of going to pageants?
