Spider-man star Tobey Maguire is reportedly planning to propose to his girlfriend of two years, Jennifer Meyer.

According to friends of the 30-year-old actor, the decision to pop the big question came when he learned that his best pal Leonardo DiCaprio's romance with Gisele Bundchen had fizzled out.

A source says: 'Leo is still down about losing Gisele, and he told Tobey that if he really loves Jen, he should step up to the table and not twiddle his thumbs about marriage.

'He told me he absolutely wants to marry Jennifer in the coming year. He doesn't want to lose her! I think she'd marry Tobey in a second!'

Meyer, 28, is the daughter of Universal Studios president Ron Meyer.

It isn't whether or not Maguire is gay, I sure don't know if he is since the people who start these stories have very little integrity to start with. How do people know he is gay? because some source says so and that's it. It is more sad on the part of the people who believe such twaddle IMO. Good for him if he wants to get married, and whether he is gay or not, he has a right to do what he wants. You don't have to marry for love. It isn't as if marriage is a prideful institution these days what with inebriated imbeciles allowed to get married and ask for an annulment some 55hours later.

It's definitely not just a showbusiness thing. I personally know of a man - who was very 'out' as a teenager and in his twenties - who got married (to a woman) when he was about 30. They now live together and have a child. I know that he married her because he wanted a child and that was the only way the woman (who knew he was gay) would give him one. Why the hell she wanted to be married to an actively gay man is anyone's guess. The guy was just a school teacher, so it wasn't like she was doing it for money or fame.

Maybe they were very good friends who deeply cared about one another. Maybe each thought the other would make an excellent parent. Maybe this situation just works for them in some way.
