Jordin Sparks Speaks Up For Abstinence

When the Host of 2008 Video Music Awards, Russel Brand, was getting most of his laughs by joking at the expense of the Jonas Brothers commitment to abstain, Jordin Sparks, who was one of the artists presenting an award on stage, and who is also openly and publicly abstaining, had no problem standing on the stage and speaking up for abstinence, saying that it was not a bad thing especially for those who didn’t want to be “sluts”.
Brand realized that he must have offended her and apoligized in the next segment.
Jordin has spoken openly about her commitment to abstinence, as have the Jonas Brothers and while I have nothing against abstinence, in fact it probably keeps young very famous people away from harm…. I don’t quite understand why ones sexual, or non sexual habits need to be a topic for conversation.
