There comes a time when a 'sit up or two' won't do the trick. Not to mention that at some point in your life you just want to relax and enjoy it instead of working your ass off to please other people. Maybe you should be reading Maxim.

Ok, you struck a chord there. I'm a 37 year-old fitness FANATIC. I have to really work hard every day in the gym to maintain my figure. Take my word for it - 'a sit up or two' does nothing. I saw her interviewed this morning about this very subject, she was plugging her book. She said she exersizes every day. I believe it, if she didn't, she'd look a LOT worse. Just go to your local Wal-Mart and look around, I think you've forgotten what the average middle-aged woman looks like.

Kat Who, by the way, doesn't fear God.

I remember watching a (television) program showing how models are made to look so good for photos, and one of the models said, 'Not only do YOU not look like this, in real life _I_ don't look like this, either'.

maybe a sit up or two HUNDRED is more what I meant. She can do better than that body. First of all, lunges. Easy, and works miracles. Hell, she could just go on a walking program and tighten herself up pretty quickly, all over.

I'm not one of the 'every body is beautiful' theorists. A lazy, unused body is an ugly body. Period. Not healthy, either.

I hope all that working out will help you when you fall of that high horse.

For starters, working out like a maniac is not necessarilly good for you either. I worked out constantly and sustained several injuries which prohibited me from working out regularly. I also have a condition which has not allowed me to push myself as hard as I used to and haven't been able to maintain any kind of program. Exercise in moderation for health reasons and not for vanity's sake is fine but that bullshit about pushing yourself to the limit is ridiculous especially once you've hit your mid 40's. Genetics plays a huge part in fitness AND in aging well.

This isn't theory, its called having self esteem. Part of having self esteem is accepting what nature gave you and working with it - flaws and all. I hate to break it to you, Gym Bunny but no matter how much you work out your body, your genetics determines what your body shape is going to be. What if you were born with lopsided boobs? Is that a result of being lazy too?

Exercise *is* an important part of a person's health but I suspect your motivation and preaching about 'healthy bodies' has less to do with health and more to do with vanity. And for the record, I *do* work out 3-4 times a week.
