As a tv person I can say I couldnt care less about the Emmy's. While I might see a fav show up for something (ie 24) and think 'cool, hope it wins something', ultimately I dont care. I have a little more interest in the Oscars as Im a movie buff and enjoy some of the montages and the like that they do.
I wasnt going to watch the Emmy's but my wife wanted to so we had it one. She went to bed after an hour and I gave up soon after that. At least 24 won something.

There was a big article in the NY Times yesterday by Caryn James addressing the issue of why the Emmy Awards is such a boring production. (I've combed their site for the article to post, but they don't seem to have posted it.) There appears to be a couple of main reasons. One is the problem for the host that there are two separate audiences

I used to watch primarily for the pre-interviews, but I had about enough of Joan Rivers. And that facelift is looking worse and worse. I wish they'd dump her for Jules and Steve or something. I loved Conan O'Brian. He was funny, but, of course, he wasn't on enough. All I wanted to see was if Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Garner won (yes and no). I guess next year I'll just watch Access Hollywood the day after.
