News has it that Shania Twain has a new album coming out soon and a remix of another. Here is a web link with details http://www.shaniatwaincity.com/latest.htm

Anyway, my question is can Shania Twain regain the spotlight she once had? Her last album was 1997. She took country and then pop music by storm and was pretty much 'rejected' by Nashville as more pop than anything else. She had a lot of hit songs and videos to match. She has the talent but can someone walk away from the spotlight for so many years and then successfully walk back into it? Her fans are delighted of course. But will the general public be as enthusiastic?

Pervious generations of fans would gladly wait years for a Steely Dan or Pink Floyd album to be released. But with the new kind of marketing it seems that each artist is treated as a lingering flash-in-the-pan and then it is over as the Spice Girls, Hanson, and others would tell you. Even though Shania has talent that is something that today's audience does not appreciate with Britney and others making it big and then being tossed aside as BS is discovering.

Shania has been copied as other country artists have followed her with makeovers and showing some skin in the video. So she'll have to do it on talent alone.

I hope she does well but I have a feeling she will be somewhat ignored. I think a performer can only take short breaks or be a WEHT before they know it.

I will be watching with interest to see the reaction of her return.

I'm kind of wondering the same thing. She did very well in the late 90's, but her work was so trendy. Times have changed so much

Her husband Mutt Lange is the master of the spin. He kept washed up groups like Foreigner and Def Leppard in the limelight for much longer than they ever should have been. I'm sure he has a plan to do the same with his wife.

For my money as long as the songs have a handle and her legs look as good post baby as they did pre - she will do just fine...

If her album is good, I think she'll have no problem making a comeback. She had a very broad fan base and she and her band were a blast to watch live

No...it's over! Look for her at the nearest county fair.
