Why did they give her the award? Did she direct the video or shoot it? Did she come up with the concept and storyboard it? Besides showing up, drinking coffee, getting overly made up and scarfing down at the craft services table, then lipsynching in front of a camera for maybe a couple hours, how does she deserve the award? (I'm not singling Carrie out on this, it would go for any singer who wins an award for a video.)

You know what's evolved is music itself. No longer do you need substance, experience, the ability to write music, understand melody, play an instrument, the skill to write a hit song....
