Carrie and Simons comments

After Simon went on and on last year about her, and his huge smile last week when she performed it takes me aback at how rediculous his remark was. First off, like her or not, and I love her, she is doing just what he said she would do. Already double platinum and still in the top 10 pop albums and country albums chart... last year's top selling #1 record of the year for the first single and now SIX weeks at #1 with Jesus Take the Wheel. Enough said there. I lost respect for him tonight.

I have not heard one song from Carrie on the radio... nor have I even seen any videos or interviews.

Enough said. 6 weeks????? They're just promoting her, nothing more.

Her song was boring and so is she.

No? What about 'Jesus, take the wheel?'

I hear it all the time. Maybe you're listening to the wrong stations.

Carrie has been enormously successful. Her album came out about 4 months ago, and has already sold 2 1/2 million copies. It is *still* in the Top Ten of the Billboard chart, at #9. On the Country Chart, it remains #1. She's had multiple singles on both the country and pop charts ('Jesus, Take the Wheel' was #1 on the country chart for weeks before dropping down this week, it's #29 on the 'Hot Airplay' chart, and #19 on the digital chart). She's got two more singles on the country chart, and those are pretty much pre-release songs.

Furthermore, she is all over with endorsement deals, including a huge deal with Sketchers (if you haven't seen her pictures in malls or in magazines, you must walk around with your eyes closed).

Simon didn't say he didn't like Carrie, just that he likes Kellie more.

I agree with him, of course Carrie shouldn't have won last year. I like her personality but her talent was not half as good as most of the other contestants.

I prefer Elton John to Billy Joel, but that doesn't mean I do not like Billy. Simon saying he prefers Kellie isn't a slap to Carrie.
