Well as a mother I find these articles insulting too. You can make motherhood whatever you want it to be. You *can* be covered in vomit and not shower if you want. Babies nap - that's when you shower. Or get up before your kids do. It's really not too agonizing for me to get up at 7-7:30 am and hop in the shower. I even do my hair and <gasp> make-up.

Well thanks. I even manage to do it with a husband who deploys all the time (he actually left yesterday for 5 weeks). Personally I think motherhood is as hard or as easy as you want to make it - like a lot of things in life.

Yep I might have to wait to do my nails, or check e-mail, but there's no reason why I can't - or shouldn't - have time for myself, or time in the evening for just me and my husband.

I have a friend with 6 kids and she does the martyr act. She also has *no* friends. It's her choice to do this, to be with the kids 24/7. I personally would find it really hard to do that.

I have 3 kids - age 4 yrs old, age 2.8 yrs old, and 7 months. I would be *insane* if all I did was hang out with them. Lol. Sure they need me *a lot* but that doesn't mean I can't still be me. JMO opinion anyway.

My aunt has three children under 5, and a husband who has been stationed away for six months in the armed services. She doesn't have home help or a cleaner, she worked part time after the second one was born, but when the third one came along she gave away her job and started her own business from home - designing, making and selling a range of teddybears. She has a large home set on a farmlet, and not only keeps the house immaculate but also keeps all the gardens in tip-top shape. She always looks fantastic, with her hair done, her makeup on and often wears clothing she makes herself. On top of all this, she finds time to be a great Mom to her kids.

Ok, so she's like superhuman or something, but motherhood certainly doesn't mean becoming a filthy hermit with no interests outside baby.

I found the article to be particularly cruel and mean-spirited. Just as I would not judge a journalist's ability to write based upon a single misplaced comma, I would not judge a person's parenting skills based upon a single photograph. It seemed to me that the author did not like the fact that a beautiful woman could not only have a baby, but could be considered beautiful and maintain a lucrative modeling career after giving birth.

If every parent who looked into the lens of the camera instead of the baby's eyes

Just because it's written in the credits doesn't mean that she's wearing that makeup. It is common in the fashion industry to use a variety of brands, and then in the magazine article to approximate the cosmetics used..

Or for one company which has nothing to do with what the model is wearing to buy the credits.

(happens all the time, honest)
