Goldmember (2002)

'Austin Powers in Goldmember' is easily the worst movie of the year - yes, even worst than 'Men in Black 2'. Never has a movie tried so hard to be hip & funny and failed so terribly! This is the 'comedy' equivalent of The Blair With Project. It even makes the second Austin Powers movie seem brilliant by comparison. The writer & creater, Mike Myers, has reduced himself to making a career out of 'spoofing' (really copying scene-for-scene) other people's movies, ranging from B-spy movies of the '60s to more recent films ('Silence of the Lambs', 'Singin' in the Rain' and many blaxpoitation movies of the 70's are all embarrasingly spoofed here). Every 'joke' in 'Goldmember' is so predictable, that I make one prediction now which is, and you can check back in 3 to 4 years and see if I was accurate, that there will be 4th Austin Powers movie and Austin will travel back in time to the 80's (an era he has yet to explore), and somewhere in this movie will include a Rubik Cube, new wave music, greed and a lot of spandex. That is the typical humor you will find in AP3. Maybe the worst part of it all is that the movie has a short running time of 89 minutes with the credits, therefore giving the audience extra rip-off, even if they didn't actually pay to see it (I didn't). Readers, I emplore you not to see this movie over the weekend. If you are curious about the cameos or give in to hype easily, pay to see another movie and sneak into this one if you must. But I repeat, do NOT pay to see 'Austin Powers in Goldmember', nor buy any of the franchise' merchandise. There is no better way to fight evil corporation in America than to skip this trash!
