Debut From Mario Vazquez Summer 2006 Includes Tracks Produced by Luny Tunes

Market Wire - April 21, 2006 - Arista Records announces today that Mario Vazquez's debut album for the label will be released this summer.

His first single 'Gallery' written by Ne-Yo who also co-produced the vocals on the track, was one of the most added records at Rhythm radio stations across the country its first week out. The track was sent out to Top 40 radio April 17th and will be available through all digital retailers as a single release 5/2.

Both English and Spanglish versions of 'Gallery' are currently out at radio and will be released digitally.

A host of top producers have been working with Mario in the studio: Ne-Yo, Soulshock and Karlin (Usher), Lester Mendez (Shakira), Scott Storch (50 Cent, Christina Aguilera) and Luny Tunes (Daddy Yankee), to name a few.

Mario is known to many from his brief stint on American Idol last season before he voluntarily withdrew when he reached the Top 12. Vazquez auditioned for Clive Davis after the last American Idol season was over.

'Mario Vazquez is a multi-talented, young American born Hispanic singer with a voice and charisma that we've been trying to find for a long time. His live audition for us was truly special,' said Clive Davis, Chairman of BMG US upon his signing.

Vazquez was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. His musical journey began with his mother's encouragement and listening to Doo Wop and Motown classics as a young boy. He eventually enrolled in the La Guardia High School of Performing Arts where he began to hone his art. He was also involved in the City Kids Repertoire Company in New York which enabled him to travel the country and perform in front of the President and at major charitable functions and shelters. © 2006, Reggaetonline.net

Do you think this year's Oscar win for 'Best Song' was a fluke?
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4304261/ Rapper's delight: A billion-dollar industry Investors finally see lucrative market in hip hop culture By Julie Watson Forbes When hip-hop began more than 20 years ago, corporate America ignored it. Big mistake. It now generates over $10 billion per year and has moved beyond its musical roots, transforming into a dominant and increasingly lucrative lifestyle. Visionaries foresee hip-hop-inspired housewares, furniture, linens, food, writing instruments and even a special hip-hop DVD section at Best Buy. They see publicly traded hip-hop companies and even a hip-hop entrepreneur rivaling Ralph Lauren or Oprah Winfrey on our list of the World's Richest People. 'It's not just music, but a culture,' says Will Griffin, president and chief executive of Simmons Lathan Media Group (SLMG). 'It's something you are, the way you look.'

Fluke, I don't know or remotely care. But I can tell you 'rap' isn't music, it's a farce. It's the liberal music industry telling impressionable people that's it's cool to be a jackass.

Actually, I think this year's Oscar winner for best song was a joke. I think the voters sat down, looked at the dull nominees and checked off the box that was going to make them laugh. It's not like that category isn't a dinosaur that needs to be terminated and that several good songs go without nominations every year. So fluke, no. Calculated prank, yes.

I'm well aware of the success of rap and hip-hop. Every time I go to the gym, I'm bombarded with that shit on the speakers and I've told my trainer that if he doesn't do something about it soon, I'm either going to start wearing headphones and communicating with him through sign language or finding another place to work out. Just because it's popular doesn't make it good.

At least when Eminem's song won, it was a song people actually heard of...and it was good. I still haven't heard this pimp one on the radio. Wasn't 'Breakaway' the most popular movie song that year? Did it not qualify for some reason? Maybe it's time to go back to only awarding Disney movie theme songs.

Some of it is good and some of it I like and really shouldn't. But hey, I'm entitled to be a little twisted once in awhile. LOL

Actually, Breakaway was from Princess Diaries 2, which came out in 2004, and was strangely absent from the list that year in favor of some complete dreck. Then again, Avril Lavigne was a co-writer on that song, so I can't say I'm sad that she doesn't have an academy award. Duncan Sheik wrote two beautiful songs for A Home at the End of the World that year, as well, and both were ignored. The award ought to be done away with altogether, since the academy music branch can't seem to find enough suitable candidates every year, while ignoring the ones that should be nominated.
