But these very visible declarations of devotion have become a major embarrassment to Jolie now that their bizarre union is over. But friends say the Tomb Raider actress will go through any amount of pain to erase the tattoos and Billy Bob from her life. It makes her seem like chattel to have his name on her private parts, like a kind of brand. She must suffer with low self-esteem.

Chattel? Almost as bad as wearing a ring and taking on another persons last name. She is not alone in the low self-esteem arena.

I've always wondered what last name people would give the kids if not a single name? His? Hers? Both? In which order? When the dual named kids grow up and marry other dual named kids what do they do? Do they have quad named kids? Do they drop some of the the names? Who wins who loses?

Why not make up a last name also? What difference does it make? What's wrong with Andrew Carol son of Mary Smith and John Jones?

Our son has my last name as one of his middle names and my husband's as his last. I didn't change my name. Works out well in our case.

Does that mean my small tattoo with the initials of an ex makes me chattel?
