I respect your opinions and other than Ace, who has not impressed me in any shape form or fashion as of yet, though that may just be my bias against his style of music, I pretty much agree with you, especially on Katharine and Kellie. However, when it comes to Chris your assertions that the talk of his lack of versatility is 'bullshit' has no foundation, IMO. So far he has been a one note performer. I say this not from the standpoint of a Chris basher but as someone who picked him as a personal favorite right out of the gate, as the style of music he gravitates towards comes the closest to what I typically listen to. He MAY not be that limited, but he has yet to prove it.

In a 12 way split, Chris would probably win but in a finale stand off between him and Taylor, Chris loses.
Taylor would pick up all of Elliott's & Paris' votes, most of Katherine's.and half of Kellie's, Bucky's and Ace's.

People would assume your theory considering the type of music each contestant does. But when I think about all the kinds of music I like, that theory goes down the drain. Just because someone loves R&B, doesn't mean they'll stick with the closest thing to R&B left. That person may also love Alternative, Heavy Metal and Hair Band music which could mean they'd go for Chris (even though he has no hair lol) if all that's left is Chris and

Its all about mainstream middle-america appeal, just looking at top 40 radio, for example. If I had to rank the remaining contestants in terms of that...
8. Paris 7. Elliott 6. Taylor 5. Bucky 4. Kellie 3. Katharine 2. Ace 1. Chris
Everybody who listens to top 40 listens to the light sort of Alt-Rock that Chris has been doing. He's more middle ground than anyone in this.

If Chris wins he will put out whatever kind of album TPTB want him to do. They got to Bo bad enough and he wasn't even the winner, with all the contractual obligations pertaining thereto. The show is geared towards a pop audience, not a rock audience, and that is what TPTB will expect the winner to produce.

There are about a half-dozen variations of the 'Top 40' concept, and the ones that most of this country listens to are the Pop/R&B/Hip-Hop version and the Country version. The Alternate Rock-driven Top 40 you are referencing appeals mainly to college students, many of whom probably can't tell you the current contestants names becuse they are too busy hanging out in bars where bands cover that sort of music and drinking on Tuesday nights.
