In defense to Sheila, if you've seen the trailer for American Dreamz, they have Mandy Moore's character and her mother being interviewed by one of the flunkies from the show. He looks around and looks at them and says they'll be able to exploit the white trash angle to maximum effect. Mandy's mom looks at him and says- but we're not white trash- and he bsaically keeps going as though he didn't hear her.

yes, exactly.
quite hilarious to see people actually offended at the term 'white trash'. Hell, if Kellie didn't want to be seen as white trash, maybe she shouldn't work so hard to give herself exactly that image.

First of all, it IS offensive, because people like you are trying to apply it to all Southerners. What exactly about Kellie Pickler makes her 'white trash'? Does she have a baby out of wedlock? Did you see a bunch of crappy cars on blocks in front of her dilapidated single wide trailer? Is she missing teeth? No. By all accounts, she's a pretty girl who happens to be of fairly limited(and that's debatable) financial means. That doesn't mean 'white trash'.
