I've watched all 5 AI.. The remaining group IMO is the weakest compared with the previous 4 AI. There is nobody left who really is a standout. Although, I think Elliot has the best voice and with some direction can become successful.

I think Chris, Katharine and Elliot are standouts. All 3 have given at least 1 performance that made me say, 'I would buy this.'.

I agree totally. As much as the producers and the judges are talking up this crop, I guarantee you that come next year, when this pack has deservedly faded into obscurity and the new group is in, Season 5 is going to be known as the one that was the disaster. None of these people have what it takes to be successful recording artists, the way Idol would like them to be. Elliott could do decently as a jazz vocalist and if McPhee were to go into musical theatre, she might do well there. Paris will probably be folded into her family's group, if they're still performing. Chris should have taken Fuel's offer when he had the chance. No one buys alt rock albums by solo singers, plus that audience wouldn't touch an Idol with a 10 foot pole. They make fun of people like that. His cred is shot. Even Fuel probably doesn't want him anymore. Ace is a joke. Taylor has a decent voice, but he's not any better than a fun, entertaining bar band act and Kellie doesn't have a drop of talent, which means we'll be seeing her on The Surreal Life in 2008.

Don't know that I disagree with any of the individual assessments, but I still don't see this group as being substantially worse than previous years', just a different set of diseases. Whoever wins will still have enough money thrown at their promotion to at least give the impression of them having career until the next idol is launched. So far though, only Kelly Clarkson has shown the potential for a career once the AI hype quiets. (Carrie may be the second, if she can come up with a follow up to her recent success.)

I just hope that the next AI generations will have learned from the current and past AIs. Parents, especially should feed their AI wannabe kids with all types of music, not just their type of music which kids mostly inherited from. Give them Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, etc., if only for enhancing vocal range and all. Just because you sound good in a couple of songs doesn't mean you can tackle any song. In other words, learn from the pros.

Not being sarcastic here, but did you watch Season 3? That entire season was a disaster.
They had two pretty good singers with personalities, looks and could entertain, but they (Amy and Matt) left way too early. What we were left with in the final 3 was Diana, a teeny bopper who could sing pretty good when in tune, Fantasia who screeched, and Jasmine who was boring. The rest of the F12 were poor singers, with the exception of LaToya who actually could sing but was as exciting as a hermit crab.
Give me Chris, Taylor, Bucky, Elliot, Kellie and Katharine over JPL, John Stevens, Camille and Leah ANY time.
